Motorcycle ride to visit health centers
Group expected in Fort Dodge on Aug. 8
A caravan of motorcycles will visit the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge in early August as part of a celebration of National Health Center Week.
The ride will visit all 14 community health centers in Iowa from Aug. 5 to Aug. 9.
Called the Iowa Hero Ride,It is being organized by the Eastern Iowa Health Center in Cedar Rapids. Riders will travel more than 1,000 miles to visit all the health centers.
The ride is expected to reach the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge on Aug. 8.
The Community Health Center of Fort Dodge provides medical, dental and behavioral health care. It offers a sliding fee scale based on a patient’s ability to pay.
Iowa’s community health centers have an estimated $328 million economic impact.
In total, Iowa’s community health centers employ more than 2,000 people and serve approximately 250,000 patients per year.
Nationwide, federally qualified health centers produce more than $85 billion in economic output. They employ more than 300,000 people and provide care to more than 31.5 million patients.
