A letter from the publisher regarding an upcoming change for some subscribers

Dear readers,

I want to let you know of an upcoming change at The Messenger that will alter how some subscribers will have their newspaper delivered beginning tomorrow.

Effective with your Sunday July 21 issue, The Messenger will use the United States Postal Service to deliver all newspapers to subscribers in lieu of carriers.

The majority of newspapers all over the country have used mail delivery for several years, largely due to challenges in finding carriers, but also for efficiency reasons.

As many are aware, businesses everywhere are facing significant challenges in filling their open positions. Unfortunately, finding carriers to deliver six days a week in all kinds of Iowa weather is an ongoing challenge.

We know that reading your newspaper on a timely basis is important. If you aren’t comfortable waiting for your mail to arrive to read your newspaper you do have another option.

Every print subscriber to The Messenger can read the online edition as early as 4 a.m. on their favorite device. Subscribers simply need to go to messengernews.net and validate their subscription status. Once that process is complete, you can read the online edition which is an exact duplicate of the printed edition. If you need assistance with this, you can call circulation customer service at 515-573-2141, ext. 405, and a staff member can assist you.

All of us at The Messenger are proud to do this important work — to serve our communities with our reporting on everything from local government meetings to annual events to heartwarming or interesting stories about the people who choose to call north central Iowa their home.

Thank you for continuing to subscribe to your source for local news — The Messenger.
