Man charged in March gunfire incident

A man is facing two felony charges in connection with a gunfire incident in Fort Dodge on March 8.

No one was injured in the shooting, which was reported at 2:08 p.m. March 8 in the 1800 block of First Avenue South.

During the investigation, Fort Dodge police obtained an arrest warrant for Michael R. Turner, 34, of Fort Dodge.

Turner was apprehended Friday during a traffic stop at First Avenue North and 18th Street, police reported.

He was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and dominion or control of a firearm/offensive weapon by a felon, according to police reports. He made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Saturday morning. His preliminary hearing was set for Monday.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement assisted city police.
