Lloyd seeks county auditor position

She's unopposed for Dem nomination

Krystal Lloyd, who has worked for Webster County in various roles for seven years, is unopposed for the Democratic nomination for county auditor.

“With the experience I’ve had in the Auditor’s Office, especially in regards to drainage and elections, I have learned a lot and I am eager to learn more,” she said in a written statement.

“I have the skills, knowledge and temperament needed for this office,” she added.

Lloyd will face Republican Shaunna Abrams, who is also unopposed for her party’s nomination, in the November general election.

The winner of that election will replace Auditor Doreen Pliner, a Democrat, who is retiring after two terms.

Lloyd is the drainage and real estate clerk in the Auditor’s Office.

She began working for the county’s Child Support Recovery Office in January 2015. She transferred to the Auditor’s Office in 2017 to become the drainage clerk. Since then, she has taken on additional responsibilities as real estate clerk and also works with elections, accounts payable, tax increment financing and valuations.

She is certified through the Iowa State Association of Counties.

The candidate grew up near Harcourt. She is a graduate of Prairie Valley High School who earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in Ames. She is pursuing an accounting degree through online classes offered by Western Governors University.

She is a member of the Prairie Valley Area Soccer Association board and has served in many capacities in her church.

Lloyd and her husband, Dustin, have three sons. They live near Gowrie.
