Abrams seeks county auditor post

She is unopposed for Republican nomination

Shaunna Abrams wants to put her financial experience to work for the public by serving as the next Webster County auditor.

“I really feel like I can do a good job,” she said. “I’ve had the financial part. I’ve had the management part.”

Abrams is unopposed for the Republican nomination for auditor. She will face Krystal Lloyd, who is unopposed for the Democratic nomination, in the November general election. The winner will replace Democrat Doreen Pliner, who is retiring after two terms.

Abrams said her 34 year career in the banking industry has given her the experience and knowledge needed for the auditor’s position.

She started in the financial industry in 1990 as a teller at the former City-County-School Frontier Credit Union. She went on to positions in lending and insurance. She took a customer service role at the former First Federal Bank.

Abrams left banking to do human resources and payroll work at the Marian Home and Village. Then she worked for H & R Block before returning to banking. Today, she is the branch manager of a local bank.

She is a member of the Fort Dodge Noon Rotary Club, the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance Board and the Growth Alliance Ambassadors.

The candidate is a native of Fort Dodge and a graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High School.

She and her husband, Joe, live in Fort Dodge. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
