Meyer announces bid for fourth term

State Rep. Ann Meyer is seeking her fourth term in the Iowa House of Representatives.
She is running for the Republican nomination in House District 8, which includes Fort Dodge and eastern Webster County.
“I take much pride in representing District 8 in the Iowa House,” the Fort Dodge resident said. “I’ve used my years of experience in the health care profession to pass meaningful legislation to meet the needs of Iowans. We’ve made great progress, but the work isn’t done.”
“It’s my pleasure to announce that I’m running for another term in the Iowa House,” she added.
Meyer is the only candidate in the race so far for either the Republican or Democratic nominations.
She was elected to her first term in 2018.
She is the chairwoman of the Health and Human Services Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations and Judiciary committees, plus the Health and Human Service Appropriations Subcommittee.
Meyer grew up in Redford, Michigan. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mercy College of Detroit in Michigan. Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, she was a clinical nurse instructor at Iowa Central Community College.
She and her husband, Dr. Jim Meyer, have one son.
