Housing subdivision advances in Webster County

A new housing subdivision planned for an area just south of the Webster County Fairgrounds was advanced Tuesday.

The county Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the preliminary plat for the area near Old Highway 169 and 230th Street. A preliminary plat is a kind of drawing that shows where the lots and streets will be.

The preliminary plat calls for a street extending from Old Highway 169 that will end in a cul-de-sac. There will be 14 lots for homes along that street. The entire area measures about eight acres.

The new housing area would have water and sanitary sewer service from the city of Fort Dodge.

The site is owned by DBJG Properties LLC.

Construction of the road is expected to begin this spring, with construction of the houses to start in the summer.

Also on Tuesday, the board gave final approval to a plan that would enable the planning and zoning administrator to grant variances for minor deviations from the zoning code. According to the measure, the administrator could approve those variances if they are “less than 10 percent of the qualified dimensional standard, or five feet, whichever is less.”
