A Webster County Sheriff’s Office vehicle and a Fort Dodge Fire Department ambulance were at 403 First St. in Moorland after two people were found dead from gunshot wounds there Thursday morning.

MOORLAND — Two people who died of gunshot wounds were found in a Moorland house late Thursday morning.

Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener said there is no danger to the public. He said the deaths were the result of an isolated incident in that home, and no suspects are sought by investigators.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased people as Sharon A. Jones, 79, and Eric A. Jones, 55.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel were sent to 403 First St. at 11:40 a.m. after someone who went to the home to check on the Joneses found them unconscious, according to Fleener.

Deputies found Sharon Jones in the living room and Eric Jones in a bedroom. Both were dead from gunshot wounds, Fleener said.

Investigators believe the deaths occurred Wednesday evening.

The Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Medical Examiners Office, Moorland Fire Department, ambulance crews from the Fort Dodge Fire Department, and Webster County Animal Control assisted deputies at the scene.
