Police identify shooting victim

A man who died following an apparent shooting on Friday morning has been identified by the Fort Dodge Police Department as 45-year-old Ryan R. Andrews, of Fort Dodge.

Police are continuing to investigate the death.

A previous release from the FDPD stated that law enforcement were called to the 1600 block of 14th Avenue Southwest at 5:16 a.m. Friday for a report that someone had been shot. When officers and deputies arrived, they found an unresponsive male, now identified as Andrews, laying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound.

Andrews received medical aid at the scene by officers and medics before being transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was brought in to assist in the investigation into the incident. As of Tuesday evening, no other new information has been released.
