Smoky fire damages Division Street shed

WEBSTER CITY -- Webster City Fire responded to a smoky blaze in a detached shed behind a house at 526 Division St. in Webster City around 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

A man working in the shed said he had started a fire in a wood burner, but then had gone into the house for a refreshment and learned later that the shed was burning. He did not identify himself.

The property is owned by Tammie Sue Johnson, according to online property records.

Once the fire was under control firefighters ventilated the structure, Fire Chief Chuck Stansfield said. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, he said.
