By Bill Shea 2 min read

The newest member of the Fort Dodge City Council, Jen Crimmins, will be sworn into office during a Tuesday morning ceremony.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.

Crimmins was elected to replace Councilman Terry Moehnke, who is retiring after 10 years in office. She will represent Ward 1, which includes western and northwestern Fort Dodge, Pleasant Valley and part of downtown.

The other council members who will be taking the oath of office are:

• Megan Secor, who was re-elected for a full term as an at-large member

• Cameron Nelson, re-elected to a second term in Ward 2, which is the city's south side

• Dave Flattery, re-elected to a seventh term in Ward 3, which is the city's northeast side

• Kim Alstott, re-elected to a seventh term in Ward 4, which is the north central part of the city

Following the ceremony, the council will have a business meeting. At that time, the members will elect a mayor pro tem, who will preside over meetings and handle other mayoral duties in the absence of Mayor Matt Bemrich. Flattery is currently the mayor pro tem.

The council will also acknowledge the dean of the council, who is traditionally the member with the most seniority who is not the mayor pro tem. The dean steps in when neither the mayor or mayor pro tem are not available. Currently Alstott is the dean of the council.
