A high speed chase in Wright County ended in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday that cost a Webster City man his life.
Jose Casiano, 36, died when he failed to negotiate a curve near where Iowa Highway 17 intersects with 308th Street in Wright County, according to an Iowa State Patrol accident report.
Casiano was not wearing a seatbelt.
A Wright County deputy saw Casiano driving erratically on Iowa Highway 17 south of Eagle Grove about 12:30 a.m. Sunday and attempted to stop the vehicle, the report said.
The ensuing chase reached speeds up to 130 mph.
The chase ended when the 2012 Mercedes GL4 Casiano was driving went into a ditch.
Casiano was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to the report. Assisting at the scene were the Wright County Sheriff's Office, Eagle Grove Police Department, Eagle Grove emergency medical responders, Hennigar's Towing and Foust Funeral Home.
