David Schultz, of Lake View, has been missing since early last week.
LAKE VIEW — A week after a Lake View man was reported missing under strange circumstances, law enforcement are continuing to try to locate him and bring answers to his family.
According to a press release from the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, 53-year-old David Schultz was reported missing on Nov. 21.
Schultz was last seen by his family on the evening of Nov. 20 when he left for work, according to an update shared by a family member on GoFundMe. He was scheduled to pick up a semi-trailer of hogs in Eagle Grove and haul them to Sac City the next day. However, Sarah Schultz was notified on the morning of Nov. 21 that her husband never arrived in Sac City with the load, though it was picked up in Eagle Grove.
On the afternoon of Nov. 21, the semi-trailer David Schultz was driving was found unlocked, parked in the middle of the road on U.S. Highway 71 northeast of Sac City, according to Sarah Schultz. The missing man’s cell phone, wallet and cash were located inside the truck, and his coat was located in a nearby ditch. The trailer was still full of hogs.
Search efforts began soon after the man’s disappearance, eventually spanning the route David Schultz is believed to have driven before he disappeared.
Over the weekend, volunteers searched areas in Calhoun, Sac, Webster and Wright counties.
Jake Rowley, Midwest team leader for the organization United Cajun Navy, is also organizing search efforts through his Facebook page.
On Monday, the Sac County Sheriff’s Office put out a release noting that the search continues and there was nothing new to report. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has joined the Sac County Sheriff’s Office and Lake View Police Department in the investigation.
David Schultz is described as a 53-year-old white male, approximately 5-foot-11-inch and 180 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last known to be wearing Wrangler blue jeans, cowboy boots and a Peterbilt hat.
Anyone with information related to Schultz’s disappearance is encouraged to call the Sac County Communications Center at 712-662-7127.
With the financial strain and uncertainty looming over David Schultz’s family, a GoFundMe has been set up to help support his wife and children during this time. To donate, visit https://gofund.me/bf0031a0.
