Fort Dodge firefighters and paramedics treat a man who was injured when the pickup he was driving crashed into a garage Sunday morning. The crash happened in the 500 block of North Ninth Street at about 9:10 a.m. The pickup jumped a curb, crossed the sidewalk and went into a yard, where it hit a retaining wall and a garbage can before slamming into a garage at the rear of the property. The man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. The crash remained under investigation, although Fort Dodge police Lt. Matt Wilson said it appeared the driver suffered some kind of medical emergency just before it occurred.
