New Fort Dodge Fiber options approved

Although its broadband network remains under construction, Fort Dodge Fiber is introducing a couple of additional services for its residential customers.

For those that go south during the winter, it is offering a seasonal internet suspension which would put their service on hold from Dec. 1 to March 31. That would cost customers $5 per month.

Fort Dodge Fiber is also offering another service which would give those who go south for the winter a minimal level of service to run their home security and monitoring devices. This will cost $35 per month.

Lastly, Fort Dodge Fiber will offer bulk internet pricing for apartment buildings. The cost will depend on the upload and download speed selected and the number of apartments that will be connected.

The City Council on Monday approved all of those additions.

The council also approved the first reading of an ordinance updating the administrative hearing process a person can use to appeal when the city government seeks to collect debts by using a state program. The ordinance clarifies debt collection, appeals and overall procedures.
