Humboldt teacher on leave pending investigation, no details released by authorities

HUMBOLDT — A Humboldt Community School District teacher is currently on administrative leave pending an investigation into an undisclosed matter, according to the district’s superintendent.

Responding to requests from The Messenger, Humboldt Superintendent Jim Murray said, “We are following district policy and procedures to investigate an issue.”

Murray did not specify what the “issue” is.

“We can’t publicly comment further as it is a confidential personnel matter,” Murray said. “Families can be confident, however, that student safety remains our highest priority.”

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Cory Lampe confirmed that the department has an active investigation related to the “issue” with the teacher and that the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was requested to assist.

“We have no timeline for the investigation to be complete,” Lampe said.
