Hardy teen killed in Webster Co. crash

2 others injured

A teenage boy was killed last Wednesday when the driver of a pickup truck ran a rural stop sign in Webster County, plowing into the sedan the boy was a passenger in.

According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, Logan Christensen, 37, of Eagle Grove, was driving a 2014 Ram pickup truck westbound on 110th Street at about 3:42 p.m. on Wednesday when he blew a stop sign and hit a 2014 Toyota sedan driven by Sara Sanga, 33, of Hardy, that was traveling northbound on Union Avenue. Both vehicles landed in the northwest ditch of the intersection.

Sanga’s 13-year-old son, Kyle Hilbert, of Hardy, was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center by Fort Dodge ambulance. Sanga sustained serious injuries and was taken to Des Moines Methodist Medical Center by Life Flight.

Christensen was also injured in the crash and was transported by ambulance to TRMC.

According to the crash report, all three were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Webster County Medical Examiner, Fort Dodge Fire Rescue, Thor Fire Department and Badger Fire Department.
