The victim of a fatal Sunday night shooting has been identified by police as 44-year-old Jason A. Ruffridge, of Fort Dodge.

According to a press release from Fort Dodge Police Chief Dennis Quinn, a shooting was reported in the 200 block of Third Avenue Northwest at about 8:42 p.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive male with multiple gunshot wounds and began life-saving efforts until medics from the Fort Dodge Fire Department could arrive.

The male, identified Monday as Ruffridge, died at the scene.

According to the release from Quinn, investigators are working to determine “exactly what took place” and are “exploring all avenues as to how this incident unfolded.”
