Lifeworks plans night of music, fun

LifeWorks will be holding a charity event called A Night For LifeWorks on Thursday. It is a fundraiser for the organization that supports people with disabilities being held at the Cardiff Center at Fort Frenzy.

Teresa Naughton, executive director of LifeWorks, said “we’ve had fundraisers ever since 2011. It is a talent show in the style of America’s Got Talent, and this year’s talent includes Aleesha Smith, last year’s winner, as well as Brady O’Brien and Kris Karr.”

“The judges include Police Chief Dennis Quinn, Fire Chief Steve Hergenreter, and Sheriff Luke Fleener,” she added.

Other aspects of the event include the catering and a silent auction.

Naughton said “There will be a dinner catered by Olde Boston, and there is a silent auction. The silent auctions are virtual and the web address is www 32auctions .com./lifeworks2023” Naughton said that the silent auction will include various things such as four Dariette cakes, tickets to the Iowa Wild, a signed Minnesota Vikings helmet, and a lot more.

When speaking about the work that goes into an event like this, Naughton said ” Well, truth be told, it is work but there are a lot of really great committees and great people that really come together and put on a good event.”

Naughton continued by saying “We have a lot of fantastic community support. We’re really pleased about that.”

This support is reflected in the list of sponsors this event has which includes Fort Frenzy, Shimkat Motor Co., Iowa Total Care, Northwest Bank, and many others which can be found listed on the 32auctions page.

The important information about the event is what it is working towards with Naughton saying “Proceeds go to the LifeWorks Charitable Foundation and its mission is to provide financial support for LifeWorks community services as it meets its mission to serve people with disability.”

A Night For LifeWorks promises to be filled with fun and music, all for a good cause. Tickets are $40 and are available at eventbrite.com. The event will start at 5 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m.
