EMMETSBURG -- Farmer's Market is 8 a.m. to noon SATURDAY on the north side of the Palo Alto County Courthouse on 10th Street, Emmetsburg.

FONDA -- Fonda Arts Center, Fonda, is hosting Ben Ranson at 3 p.m. SUNDAY. Ranson is a nylon-string, finger-style guitarist and humorous singer-songwriter from Sandstone, Minnesota. Ranson will hold an "unaccompanied improvisation" workshop for guitar immediately preceding the concert at 1 p.m. Those attending the hands-on workshop should bring an acoustic guitar. Cost of the workshop is $10. Call Annie at 712-288-6278 to indicate an interest in the workshop. Admission to the concert and refreshments are free.

HUMBOLDT -- The 18th annual Pumpkins and Ponies is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. SATURDAY and 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. SUNDAY at Springvale Farm, 2603 Lone Tree Road, Humboldt. There will be performances by the Dragonfire Dancing Horses, covered wagon rides, petting zoo, vintage gas engines and corn shelling demonstration and vendors. On Saturday only, there will be pony rides, face painting and live music by Nedd Freeley Funn Band. Admission and parking are free.

TWIN LAKES -- Twin Lakes Bible Camp, 7718 Twin Lakes Road, Manson, is holding Pumpkinfest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. SATURDAY and 1 to 5 p.m. SUNDAY. Admission is $5 per person. There will be a corn maze, pumpkin patch, corn pool, kiddy zipline, three-story tree house, trolley rides, tire kingdom, barrel train, sling shots, pumpkin cannon, rubber ducky races, pedal cart track and human hamster wheel. Giant zipline rides are $5 per ride. Concessions will be available for purchase.

EMMETSBURG -- Lost Island Nature Center annual Dad's Belgian Waffle Breakfast is 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. SUNDAY at the VFW, Emmetsburg. Tickets are $10 per person.

WEST BEND -- Sts. Peter & Paul Fall Turkey Dinner is 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. SUNDAY at the parish hall, West Bend. Tickets are $14 for adults and $7 for children. Dine-in only, carryouts available until 6 p.m.

FORT DODGE -- Farmers Market is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. SATURDAY at 11 N. 25th St.

FORT DODGE -- Daybreak Rotary Chili and Cinnamon Roll Supper is 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. SATURDAY at First Presbyterian Church, 1111 Fifth Ave. N. A bowl of chili and jumbo cinnamon roll will be served for $10. The supper is drive-thru only. Proceeds are donated back to the community.

FORT DODGE -- Holy Trinity Parish Spaghetti Dinner is 4:30 to 7 p.m. SUNDAY at the Corpus Christi Center, 405 N. Eighth St. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under.

FORT DODGE -- 2023 Apple Fest is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. SATURDAY and SUNDAY at the Community Orchard, 2237 160th St. There will be wagon rides, pumpkin patch, corn maze, farm games and food.

FORT DODGE -- Kennedy Park Campground, 1415 Nelson Ave., and Gypsum City OHV Campground, 2390 Mill Road, are holding Trick or Treating from 4 to 6 p.m. SATURDAY. Campers are encouraged to decorate their site and hand out candy. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated campers. FORT DODGE -- Meals on Wheels Trivia Night is SATURDAY at the Laramar Ballroom, 710 First Ave. N. Doors open at 6 p.m. with trivia at 7 p.m. There will be live and silent auctions. FORT DODGE -- A benefit auction for Heather Applegate and her family is 2 p.m. SATURDAY at Creekside, 1762 Johnson Ave. On Sept. 5, Applegate was in a freak accident that caused severe head trauma. She has been a patient in Iowa City since the accident. Due to the amount of trauma, a long recovery time is expected and it is not known if she will be able to return to her small business, Studio Fusion.

FORT DODGE -- First United Methodist Church, 1002 First Ave. N., is hosting a free Manna Meal at 5 p.m. SATURDAY at the church. There will be a baked potato bar and bingo.

FORT DODGE -- Release for Hope Candlelight Ceremony is 5:30 p.m. SUNDAY at Oleson Park, 1400 Oleson Park Ave. The ceremony is in memory of babies who have died due to miscarriage, stillbirths, SIDS, neonatal or another type of pregnancy or infant loss. Globes are $10 and may be purchased online or at Trinity Gifts at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Proceeds from the globes are used to support families who have experienced a loss.
