WOOLSTOCK — Two riders of a motorcycle were killed Saturday afternoon when they crashed into a turning pickup truck while trying to pass it in rural Woolstock.

According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2012 Honda motorcycle ridden by Eric Gustafson, 52, of Thompson, and Mindy Chandler, 48, of Waukee, was riding east on 330th Street, following a 1995 Ford F15 truck driven by 49-year-old Patricia Krieger, of Woolstock.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the report said, Gustafson began to pass the truck driven by Krieger just as Krieger was making a left-hand turn onto Ida Avenue. The motorcycle struck the rear bumper of the truck and both Gustafson and Chandler were pronounced dead at the scene.

Krieger was uninjured.

Both Gustafson and Chandler were transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner in Ankeny.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Woolstock Fire Department and Eagle Grove Emergency Medical Services.
