Omaha man charged with sex abuse in Fort Dodge

An Omaha man who is already serving 40 to 50 years in a Nebraska prison for sex crimes has been charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse in Webster County.

According to court documents, Timothy Gilbert, 35, is accused of having sexual contact with two children under the age of 14. One of the alleged assaults occurred in a Fort Dodge motel last summer.

Gilbert was arrested in Omaha in August 2022 and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree sexual assault of a child. He was convicted in March and is currently serving two consecutive terms of 20 to 25 years in the Nebraska Department of Corrections.

Court documents show that in June, Gilbert requested disposition of the Iowa charges and agreed to return to Webster County to face prosecution. He had his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Wednesday morning.

Gilbert is also charged with one count of incest.

If convicted in Iowa, Gilbert faces up to an additional 55 years in prison for the Webster County offenses.
