A variety of vehicles costing a total of more than $250,000 were purchased by the Fort Dodge City Council Monday for the police, public works and fire departments.

Four 2024 Dodge Durangos were bought for the Police Department from Shimkat Motor Co., of Fort Dodge, for $172,767.60.

They will replace four older Ford Explorers.

A 2024 Ford F550 chassis was purchased from Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota for $49,967 for the Public Works Department.

When the truck chassis is delivered, a dump box from an older truck will be mounted on it, creating a new dump truck.

A 2024 Ram 2500 pickup was bought from Shimkat Motor Co. for $45,766 for the Fire Department. It will replace a 2005 Ford pickup now in use.

Last September, the council ordered a Chevrolet Silverado pickup for the department, but it was never delivered so the order was canceled.
