Parking plan for Shellabration outlined

People heading to Oleson Park Saturday for the Shellabration concert featuring Collective Soul with Pablo Cruise and Twenty 2 Salute will have five main choices for parking.

All handicapped accessible parking will be in the park, and it will be reached by entering in the 1200 block of Oleson Park Avenue near the Donna Jean Monkelien Pavilion. Anyone who wants to park in that area must have a state-issued blue accessibility tag. Golf carts will be available to transport people from there to the concert area.

The other main parking areas are:

• The north end of Oleson Park. Enter at 17th Street and 12th Avenue South.

• South of the Oleson Park Bandshell. Enter from the 1400 block of Oleson Park Avenue. This will also be the area for RVs, buses and campers.

• Gravel lot at 15th Avenue South and 21st Street.

• Grass field next to National Gypsum. To reach it, follow the signs near 15th Avenue South and Oleson Park Avenue.

All parking is free.

Some on-street parking will be available in the neighborhood around the park. No parking zones will be strictly enforced to ensure traffic flow and emergency vehicle access.

"One of the many questions we receive about this year's show is where to park," said Jim Reed, the president of Shellabration Inc. "It may surprise people to hear that it's easier to get people in pre-show and out post-show at Oleson Park than it is at Rogers Sports Complex."

"With one road north and one road south at the sports complex, you can only get people in and out one car at a time," he added. "At the bandshell, we have five different parking areas where cars can enter at the same time."
