Odebolt man sentenced to 10 years for sexual exploitation of a minor

SAC CITY — An Odebolt man accused of sending nude photos to a 16-year-old boy and offering money in exchange for the teen sending nude photos back has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and life on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

According to charging documents, Nick Lee Pierce, 42, allegedly used the social media app Snapchat to send photos to the victim in early April. He also offered to send the juvenile victim gift cards worth $200 to $500 to coerce the victim into reciprocating the exchange.

On July 20, Pierce entered an Alford plea to the charge of sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class C felony. An Alford plea is one in which the defendant maintains his innocence, but accepts that a jury could find him guilty based on the strength of the state’s case.

Chief District Court Judge Adria Kester accepted the plea and sentenced Pierce to up to 10 years in prison

A second charge in the case, supplying alcohol to a person under the legal age, was dismissed as part of the plea agreement with the Sac County Attorney’s Office.

The case was prosecuted by Sac County Attorney Ben Smith and investigated by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office.

Starting at $2.99/week.
