The Fort Dodge Police Department has identified the man who died Wednesday morning after being shot while allegedly trying to break into a garage in Fort Dodge.

The deceased man has been identified as 44-year-old Bryan W. Gambill, of Fort Dodge. According to the FDPD, investigators are continuing to compile information from the incident and further updates will be passed along.

Shortly after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, the FDPD and medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department were called to 1219 Sixth Ave. S. for a report of a person who had shot someone who was breaking into his garage. When officers and medics arrived, they located Gambill, who was unresponsive and ultimately pronounced dead.

The incident remains under investigation.
