Orth sentenced to 30 years for sex abuse of a child
A Fort Dodge man will spend the next three decades behind bars after pleading guilty to having inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 12.
Zachary Ray Orth, 29, was arrested last July and charged with one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony. On March 27 of this year, Orth pleaded guilty to amended charges of one count of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child, all Class C felonies.
Senior District Court Judge Thomas Bice sentenced Orth to 30 years in prison on May 8. Each count was given a 10-year prison sentence and Bice ordered the three sentences to be served consecutively.
A $1,370 fine for each count was suspended.
Orth must also register as a sex offender and after his release from prison will serve a special supervised sentence as if on parole for the remainder of his life.
