Lunch on Central returns

Main Street FD event to offer food, chance to win concert tickets

The enticing aroma of pork burgers on the grill will be wafting through part of downtown Fort Dodge during the lunch hour Friday.

The aroma and the burgers will be provided by the Webster County Pork Producers during this summer’s first Lunch on Central event.

The event will also give people a chance to win two tickets to the Sept. 16 Downtown Country Jam featuring Josh Turner.

Lunch on Central is an annual activity held during June, July and August by Main Street Fort Dodge.

This year’s lunches will be held on the last Friday of those months. They will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in an alley in the 700 block of Central Avenue, between The Messenger and the Webster County Courthouse.

“It’s always fresh,” said Sharon Stroh, executive director of Main Street Fort Dodge. “It’s always served with a smile.”

“It’s about getting familiar with your downtown and the people who live and work in your downtown,” she added.

Friday’s menu will be pork sandwiches, potato salad, chips and bottled water for $8.

The potato salad and chips will be provided by The Dariette. Pelham Blue Ribbon Water will provide the water.

Trinity United Methodist Church will offer desserts.

During the lunch there will be a drawing for the Downtown Country Jam tickets. Stroh said there will be a drawing for tickets during the July and August lunches as well. Those lunches are scheduled for July 28 and Aug. 25.
