A chamber of commerce executive from southwestern Missouri has been selected as the next chief executive officer of the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance.

Astra Ferris was hired by the Growth Alliance board Wednesday. Her first day on the job will be Sept. 5.

She is currently the chief executive officer of the Barton County Chamber of Commerce in Lamar, Missouri.

She will replace Dennis Plautz, who has been the chief executive officer of the Growth Alliance since its creation in 2012.
