FD shooting suspect is apprehended in Davenport

Pettigrew charged with murder and attempted murder

A Fort Dodge teenager wanted for the May 2 shooting death of Patrick Walker, and attempted murder of Silas Hall, has been apprehended in Davenport, according to the Fort Dodge Police Department.

Davonquae Jyshon “D.J.” Pettigrew, 17, is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the May 2 shooting in the 100 block of North 10th Street in downtown Fort Dodge.

Since the shooting, Pettigrew had been on the run. Webster County Crime Stoppers has offered an award for information leading to his arrest, most recently raising the reward to $1,500 on Friday.

According to a press release from the FDPD, a tip on a possible location for Pettigrew in Davenport came in on Saturday. The FDPD contacted the Davenport Police Department for assistance and the Davenport police conducted a search warrant on a residence in Davenport, taking Pettigrew into custody around 6:45 p.m. without incident.

Pettigrew is being held in the Scott County Juvenile Detention Center.

A second teen, 16-year-old Haydin Mapel, has been arrested and charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder and attempted murder.
