Isom pleads not guilty to first degree murder, robbery charges
MARSHALLTOWN — The Marshalltown man who stands accused of murdering 27-year-old Isaiah Forest on March 17 and robbing a woman at gunpoint on March 6 has pleaded not guilty and waived his right to a speedy trial in both cases, according to court filings.
Amarrion Demeir Isom, 20, formerly of Fort Dodge, was scheduled to be arraigned on April 10, but one of his attorneys, Public Defender Aaron Siebrecht, filed a written arraignment and plea of not guilty on March 29. A trial scheduling conference for both matters is now set for April 19 at 10 a.m. via conference call.
Court documents also indicate that the Marshalltown Police Department executed a search warrant in Story County at a location where they believed relevant evidence may have been found on March 19, and among other items, officers seized a .410 shotgun shell, nine rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, a .22 caliber blue rifle and loose marijuana.
Isom is being held in the Marshall County Jail on a $1 million cash only bond for the murder charge along with a $50,000 cash only bond for the first degree robbery charge.
