FD woman sentenced for distributing meth

A Fort Dodge woman will spend nearly a decade in federal prison for her role in an alleged conspiracy to distribute more than 15 kilograms of methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge area between January 2020 and April 2022.

According to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, 35-year-old Amber Miller pleaded guilty last November to conspiracy to distribute meth. Investigators say she was part of a conspiracy scheme and on two separate occasions in January 2021 and March 2021, Miller distributed a total of 140 grams of meth to an individual who was cooperating with law enforcement. Miller also admitted to obstruction of justice.

Miller was sentenced to 117 months in federal prison, along with a four-year term of supervised release following the prison term. She is being held in the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service awaiting transfer to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation laboratory.
