Webster Co. to get new election equipment

Webster County’s nearly decade-old voting equipment will be replaced soon.

On Tuesday, the Webster County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the purchase of 22 new OpenElect Freedom Vote Scanners with collapsible ballot boxaes from election equipment company RBM Voting LLC.

“This is going to replace our current tabulators,” explained Webster County Auditor Doreen Pliner. “Our equipment is about eight years old. We’re having some concerns with the tabulators that are jamming up once in a while and we decided to go ahead and get new ones.”

The 22 new machines, as well as the firmware to run them and the pick up and disposal of the old OpenElect Optical machines, will cost $150,330.

Starting at $2.99/week.
