One person was injured Monday morning after failing to stop at a railroad crossing and striking a moving train south of Fort Dodge.

One person was injured Monday morning after failing to stop at a railroad crossing and striking a moving train south of Fort Dodge.
A driver of a pickup truck was transported to the hospital with possible internal injuries following a collision with a Union Pacific Railroad train on Monday morning.
The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Mill Road near Georgia Pacific south of Fort Dodge.
According to Webster County Sheriff’s Deputy Pat Gerhardt, the driver of the truck failed to stop at the railroad crossing and struck the train as it passed by.
There were no other passengers in the vehicle, he said.
The driver of the truck was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center by the Fort Dodge Fire Department with possible internal injuries, Gerhardt said. The driver was cited for failure to properly stop at a railroad crossing, he said.
The driver was not identified Monday.
Also assisting on scene were the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
