Five seventh and eighth grade students from Fort Dodge Middle School were selected for the 2023 Karl King Honor Band.

The Karl King Honor Band performed Saturday. The students spent the day rehearsing with band students from other schools before performing the concert that evening.

Students representing Fort Dodge Middle School were:

• Taleyah Douglas, eighth grade, percussion

• Collin Hoover, seventh grade, tenor saxophone

• Miura Novencido, seventh grade, trombone

• Bridget Olson, seventh grade, flute

• Caitlyn Uhlenhopp, eighth grade, percussion

“These students put in extra time and effort to prepare the challenging music for the honor band,” said Tara Smith, Fort Dodge Middle School band instructor. “Students make so many memories and become better musicians through experiences like this. I’m proud of these kids for their efforts, and how they represented Fort Dodge Middle School.”
