Taking center stage with Maddie Reynoso
With a smile: Reynoso’s positive attitude helps keep her active

If you ever see Maddie Reynoso competing, she likely has a smile beaming from her face.
Reynoso, a St. Edmond High School senior, believes that is one of the key reasons why she
has been so active during her career as a Gael.
Along with being involved in showcase, the musical and show choir, Reynoso has also tried her hand at volleyball, student council, choir and St. Edmond honor society.
“It’s important to be involved so much to me because it allows me to be exposed to many different people,” she said, “that I otherwise would not have had a chance to interact with.
“The desire to compete and perform comes from the fun of it. Everything I’ve done — performance or competition — has brought me an immense amount of joy that I wouldn’t trade for anything.”
Reynoso was part of the St. Edmond show choir that competed in the finals last year, a memory she continues to hold close to her heart.
“It was the first time in quite a while that St. Edmond had made it to the finals in that competition,” she said. “It is definitely a favorite memory of mine from performing.”
In just a few short weeks, Reynoso will complete her academic career at St. Edmond and head to California. That is just one part of her plans for the future.
“I will be working and being with family,” she said. “After that, I plan on attending Savannah College of Art and Design in the fall to study fashion merchandising.”
Reynoso looks up to a handful of people who have influenced her, including recent SEHS grad Gracie Harvey.
“Gracie is one person in particular that stands out. She’s one of the strongest people I know and her strength inspires me,” Reynoso said. “In my family, I look up to my mom and dad. They’ve done and sacrificed so much for me, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.”
And while her days with the Gaels are numbered, Reynoso still would love a short to perform under the bright lights.
“A dream performance would be either going on American Idol or Dancing With The Stars,” she said. “I’ve been watching both of those shows for years and it would be crazy if I got to be on one.”
