ROLFE — A rural Rolfe man is facing several felony drug charges after law enforcement found evidence of marijuana-growing and methamphetamine manufacturing in his home.

On Oct. 24, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ Law Enforcement Bureau executed a search warrant on the home of Jason Levant Ferguson, 40. According to the DNR’s search warrant application, Ferguson was a suspect in the illegal harvest of timber from state-owned property, the Stoddard Wildlife Management Area.

According to court records, during the DNR’s search warrant execution, the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office conducted a supplemental search warrant execution on the property. During the PCSO’s search, deputies found several firearms, including two rifles and one handgun, as well as evidence that Ferguson was growing marijuana on the property.

Deputies found a “large amount” of marijuana plants hanging to dry inside several buildings on the property, as well as marijuana that was harvested and ready for use. A large amount of methamphetamine and evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing was also found.

Digital scales, plastic baggies, blotter paper consistent with LSD, suspected Ecstasy pills and psilocybin (magic mushrooms) were also found and seized.

Ferguson is charged with one count of a controlled substance violation as a Class B felony and one count of a controlled substance violation as a Class D felony. He is also charged with two counts of failure to affix drug stamp and three counts of control of a firearm by a felon, a Class D felonies.

Ferguson has pleaded not guilty. A jury trial is scheduled for Jan. 24, 2023, in Pocahontas County.
