MANSON — Four students at Manson Northwest Webster High School recently took part in the FCCLA Fall Leadership Rally, which was held in Des Moines at the Holiday Inn Airport.

Junior Carson Widlund was joined by sophomores Laney Peterson, Makayla Geerdes and Kayla Skramstad, with the three 10th-graders all making a second appearance. All four of the students secured Top-4 finishes in their respective events.

Widlund was third in the Grilled Cheese Challenge, as was Peterson in the $10 Meal for 4 Challenge. Skramstad placed fourth in the T-shirt design and Geerdes was fourth for her informational poster.

“All four of my students have taken my Food Fundamental class, Child Development class and Food and Nutrition and FCS Foundations class,” MNW teacher Jessica Lavicky said. “Those classes all help them in areas with their individual categories.

“All four are current FCCLA members, as well, and they look forward to competing at more conferences.”
