McMullen pleads guilty to 4 counts of child endangerment
A Webster County mother has pleaded guilty to several felony child endangerment charges related to a separate physical and sexual abuse case.
On Monday, 28-year-old Michelle McMullen, of Callender, pleaded guilty to four counts of child endangerment — bodily injury, all Class D felonies.
In June, McMullen was arrested and charged with 10 counts of child endangerment — bodily injury following an investigation into reports that McMullen’s boyfriend, Joseph Hill, was abusing her children. Investigators allege McMullen knew about the abuse and failed to report it until asked about it by the Department of Human Services. She also allegedly allowed her children to be unsupervised with Hill, intentionally breaking a safety plan put in place by DHS.
Hill is charged with a battery of felony sexual abuse and child endangerment charges involving the children in McMullen’s home.
McMullen filed her guilty pleas to four of the charges on Monday. The remaining six charges will be dismissed.
A sentencing hearing has not been scheduled. According to the plea agreement, the state will be bound by the pre-sentencing investigation recommendation and the defendant will be free to argue for any legal sentence.
