The Fort Dodge Police Department is investigating an incident of shots fired near downtown Wednesday morning.

According to a press release from the department, shortly before noon on Wednesday, shots fired between two trucks were reported in the area of First Avenue North and North Sixth Street. However, responding officers quickly realized the incident had actually happened in the 300 block of North Seventh Street. No injuries were reported, but a victim, witnesses and physical evidence were located in the area.

The FDPD is continuing to follow up on this incident and encourages any homeowners or businesses from the area who may have video footage to contact law enforcement. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via Crime Stoppers by texting LEC to 274637.
