1 killed in crash in Pocahontas Co.

HAVELOCK — An O’Brien County man was killed in an early morning crash in Pocahontas County on Thanksgiving Day.

According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, Richard Leth, 75, of Hartley, was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup truck northbound on Iowa Highway 4 northwest of Havelock. Shortly before 2:30 a.m., Leth’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a 2019 Mack semi truck driven by Daniel Myers, 65, of Spencer.

Myers was uninjured in the crash, and Leth was declared dead at the scene.

The ISP was assisted by the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, Pocahontas Fire and Ambulance, Pocahontas Police Department and Havelock Fire Department.
