Teen arrested for weekend shooting
A Fort Dodge Senior High School student was arrested on Wednesday in connection to a shooting at a party in rural Webster County that injured another teen on Friday night.
According to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office and Webster County court records, 17-year-old River Edmund Parker McNealy was arrested at FDSH without incident. McNealy is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony; possession of a firearm by a felon, a Class D felony; and possession of a firearm by an ineligible person, a serious misdemeanor.
The teen had his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Wednesday morning and is being held at the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Eldora on a $16,000 cash-only bond.
On Saturday, the sheriff’s office reported that a teen girl had sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot at a large party at 2504 225th St. shortly before midnight on Friday night.
According to the criminal complaint, McNealy was involved in an altercation with several other individuals when he fired a handgun into the crowd, striking the victim in the foot from less than 15 feet away.
