Stucky appointed by Gov. Reynolds
Kate Stucky, of Fort Dodge, has been named to the commission that is responsible for screening applicants and selecting nominees for district judge, district associate judge, associate juvenile judge, and associate probate judge vacancies in north central Iowa.
Stucky has been appointed to the District 2B Judicial Nominating Commission by Gov. Kim Reynolds.
‘I’m honored and humbled to be appointed to the District Judicial Nominating Commission,” she said. “It’s exciting, but of course it is an enormous responsibility. I believe I will find the challenge a rewarding experience.’
There is a nominating commission for each of Iowa’s 14 judicial election subdistricts. Each district commission has 11 members, including a chair, who is the most senior district court judge in the district, five members elected by lawyers, and five non-lawyer members appointed by the governor. Each commissioner, except the chair, serves a six-year term. District nominating commissions provide the governor with a slate of two nominees from which to make an appointment to the district court.
Stucky’s term will expire Jan. 31, 2028.
District 2B includes Boone, Calhoun, Carroll, Greene, Hamilton, Hardin, Humboldt, Marshall, Pocahontas, Sac, Story, Webster, and Wright counties.
Stucky is the director of operations and finance at St. Edmond Catholic School and Holy Trinity Parish.
