Federal fugitive apprehended in Fort Dodge

Local and federal law enforcement teamed up to apprehend a federal fugitive in Fort Dodge on Wednesday.

According to a release from the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Marshals Service received information that Cameron D. Carodine, a known Bloods criminal street gang member out of Omaha, Nebraska, was located in Fort Dodge. Carodine was wanted on outstanding warrants related to a federal investigation in Omaha.

The WCSO, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals and the Fort Dodge Police Department’s K-9 unit, tracked down Carodine at a Fort Dodge residence on Wednesday. When law enforcement entered the residence, Carodine leaped from a second-story window and attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended.

After being cleared at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center, Carodine was booked into the Webster County Jail on a federal hold. He will be transported to the federal courthouse in Sioux City for an initial appearance.

According to the press release, the WCSO is actively investigating this incident and criminal charges may be filed against individuals who helped Carodine evade arrest.
