Algona Cruise-In to feature chrome, classics

ALGONA — A variety of vehicles will cruise into downtown Algona during the second annual Algona Cruise-In Sunday.

It will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Mojo Productions is the main sponsor of the event.

This year, the cruise is in memory of Jim Schumacher, who died earlier this year. He was one of the people who helped create the Algona Cruise-In.

“Jim originally helped me come up with the idea for a cruise-in,” organizer Scott Sewick said.

During the first show last year, there were 153 entries.

“We are hoping to have all different vehicles this year, including classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, and really any vehicle you want to show off,” Sewick said.

Registered vehicles will get numerous chances to win trophies. There will be five Peoples Choice Awards, five Community Service Awards (picked by the Algona Police Department, Algona Fire Department, the mayor, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department and Kossuth County Emergency Medical Service) and the Schumacher family.

Along with trophies there will also be door prizes. The Buscher Brothers RC has donated a Losi 1969 Camaro RC car that is going to be raffled off. Anyone 16 and under can get a raffle ticket. There is no cost for the raffle tickets.

The Algona Axe House, Feed Mill Coffee, Pep’s, Perky Parrot After Dark, Billie Jo’s Bar & Grill and Dairy Queen will be open during the cruise.
