Volunteers needed for Dragon Boat Bash

The 25th annual Badger Lake Dragon Boat Bash will be kicking off at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park on Friday, and event organizers say more volunteers are needed for the weekend.

“This event would not happen without volunteers,” said event co-chair Linda Donner. “We’re on our 25th year and we’ve had a lot of success with people getting volunteers in the past, but we just seem to be really short this year.”

Volunteers are needed for a variety of areas on both Friday and Saturday.

Friday night volunteer opportunities include:

• Front gate

• Beer ID checkers

• Food and beer ticket sales

• Concessions

• Merchandise sales

• Parking

Saturday volunteer opportunities include:

• Front Gate

• Beer ID checkers

• Food and beer ticket sales

• Concessions

• Merchandise sales

• Parking

• Race timing

• Boat loading

“Most of the slots are four-hour time slots, but if somebody said they could come out for two hours, we would take them for any time they could give,” Donner said.

Donner said the organizers can also use some help setting up for the event as well.

Individuals and groups interested in volunteering can sign up on the Dragon Boat Bash website https://bldba.com, or they can call Donner at 515-571-9642.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of any community event,” co-chair Barb Michaels said. “Volunteers are the people who make it happen and keep these events alive in our community.”
