Clean Laundry opens in Corridor Plaza
A laundromat is the newest business to open in the developing Corridor Plaza area.
It is appropriately called Clean Laundry and it is offering free washing and drying to customers through Aug. 31.
Dryers will be free through September.
Clean Laundry is located at 2817 Third Ave. S. It is in a new strip mall on a recently constructed section of Third Avenue South on the southeast side of the former Crossroads Mall property.
It is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. In September, its hours will expand to 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
A manager and up to seven other employees will work there.
“We set out to make the chore of doing laundry the best part of a customer’s day,” Phil Akin, the owner of Clean Laundry, said in a written statement. “Our facilities put a strong emphasis on being the cleanest laundromat that focuses on giving our customer’s time back. We say it’s about time, meaning that it’s time for everyone in Fort Dodge to get a nice place to do laundry and not have to spend all day at the laundromat.”
The Clean Laundry location in Fort Dodge measures 2,500 square feet. It is equipped with more than 60 washers and dryers.
Customers will not need fistfuls of quarters to pay for doing the wash at this new laundromat. Use of the machines will be paid for with debit cards, credit cards or phone pay apps.
In-store technology includes mobile connected machines so customers can see if a washer or dryer is available for use, see how much time is left on a load in one of the machines and earn loyalty funds.
The laundromat is also equipped with charging ports, free high speed Wi-Fi and security surveillance video.
Akin and his son, Ethan, opened the first Clean Laundry in Waterloo in 2014. Clean Laundry now has more than 30 locations in Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.
