The driver of a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck was transported by ambluance to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center on Friday evening after crashing his truck into a yard off of Williams Drive. First responders were called to the 900 block of Williams Drive at about 6 p.m. for a report of a truck that had hit a house. When officers arrived, they found the truck had struck a tree in the home’s yard, but had not hit the house. The driver of the truck, who has not been identified by law enforcement, appears to have been driving north on North Ninth Street toward where it turns into Williams Drive, when he left the roadway and entered the yard, demolishing a tree and landing just feet from the house, according to Fort Dodge Police Department Officer Timothy Hopwood. The driver of the vehicle was alert and able to walk when paramedics arrived. The cause of the crash remains under investigation as of Friday night.
