FD teen charged in Thursday stabbing
A 14-year-old Fort Dodge teen has been charged following a fight at Reynolds Park that led to a stabbing on Thursday evening.
According to the Fort Dodge Police Department, a “group of young adults and juveniles” had met at Reynolds Park in the 400 block of North 17th Street, around 6 p.m. to engage in a fight. A 14-year-old male stabbed a 17-year-old male at the start of the altercation.
When officers arrived, they learned the alleged offender had been chased into a nearby home and were able to locate and arrest the 14-year-old.
Due to the victim’s and offender’s ages, their names will not be released at this time.
The 14-year-old has been charged with willful injury resulting in serious injury, a Class C felony; going armed with intent, a Class D felony; and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
The victim was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center by private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.
Law enforcement believes this to be an isolated incident among known individuals and not a random act.
