Author of travel book featuring FD sites to visit

The author of an Iowa travel book that features several area locations will visit Fort Dodge Tuesday.

Sara Broers, author of “100 Things To Do In Iowa Before You Die,” will sign books and discuss her favorite travel locations from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Dodge Public Library by the City Square.

The book has features on Gaga and Hoo Korean Restaurant, the Lizard Creek mountain bike trails, Gypsum City OHV Park and the Fort Dodge grain silo mural.

Also included in various listings in the book are Brushy Creek State Recreation Area, the Dariette, Community Orchards, Lizard Creek water trails, and Amigo’s. The book contains several photos of the community, including the main title page photo showing the author and others in front of the grain silo mural.

“We are thrilled that Sara decided to highlight some of our region’s attractions and businesses,” said Kerrie Kuiper, executive director of the Fort Dodge Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We continue to see others come into Fort Dodge and they are pleasantly surprised at the quantity and quality of things to do in our region.”

Broers participated in the outdoor adventures familiarization tour that the Convention and Visitors Bureau hosted in June 2021.

During the tour, bureau staff members and volunteers took travel writers mountain biking, fishing, riding OHVs, kayaking and hiking. They also went to restaurants and checked out other local sites.

Copies of “100 Things To Do In Iowa Before You Die” are available at the Convention and Visitors Bureau office, 24 N. Ninth St., for $19.95. They will also be available at the book-signing event Tuesday.
